16th Annual Immersion Weekend for German Teachers
Northern Illinois AATG - Wisconsin AATG - Trainernetzwerk Goethe-Institut-Chicago
Thema: AP - Not Just for Seniors Anymore
February 14-16, 2014

Spend a weekend with AATG-STEM grant recipients working to develop Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics lessons for novice, intermediate and advanced level learners. Using the model of the new AP German Language and Culture Exam as a framework for interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communication, the workshop will engage participants in sample lessons that the presenters have developed. Participants will also have the opportunity to work with colleagues to develop their own lessons and materials. The focus will be on one of the six official themes of the AP exam, namely Science and Technology. The hands-on sessions will not only target students preparing for the AP exam, but also beginning and intermediate learners.

Presenters:

Ninja Nagel (Barrington High School)
John Stark (Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy – retired)
Siggi Piwek (Milwaukee German Immersion School)
Katharina Barbe (Northern Illinois University)
